About NIEPA
The NIEPA is engaged in high level academic research and teaching in the areas of education
development policy making, planning and administration. Established in 1962 as a training arm of the
UNESCO in Asia, the NIEPA today is a full-fledged (deemed to be) University. It is home to India's
premier thinking on education and development policy, and its planning and implementation. Further,
it provides training support to educational offices in India, and abroad.
Its unique mix of knowledge through research, capacity building and training activities makes it sought
after destination for researchers. The institutional atmosphere of the NIEPA is rich with academic and
co-curricular activities - attracting scholars and practitioners of education from around the world. Our
research scholars participate in most deliberations and begin thinking of practical policy agendas, even
as they pursue their academic lives.
The academic life is rich with various academic and co-curricular activities. This includes cultural and
sports events and lectures by distinguished academics and intellectuals.
In recognition of its academic and institutional excellence, the NAAC has recently awarded an “A” Grade
to the university (with a CGPA score of 3.05).
